2025 Bake Sale - Thank You!

A SHOUT OUT to all who made our event a success! Many thanks to the bakers, helpers, buyers, and donors -- everyone who supported the 2025 Friends of Shanklin Bake Sale! We couldn't have done it without YOU! Our annual fundraiser is truly a community effort. Once again, you answered the call to share your baking talents and/or help during the sale. We are grateful for one and all who lent a hand, volunteered time, and gave generously to benefit the students and staff members of Shanklin Elementary School.

The acclaim for our Pies-for-a-Year and Cookies-for-a-Year is growing! So many of you made breads this year that we might consider sponsoring a Bread-of-the-Month. It would be a very popular campaign, and for those of you who enjoy baking, FOS would love to showcase your pastry skills and breadmaking expertise!

Thanks again, Friends of Shanklin looks forward to your participation next Fall!

Positively Impacting Shanklin Students

....And With Your Help, We Can Do So Much More!

In 2024, SC Department of Education scorecards showed JS Shanklin Elementary School rose two ranking levels over the past 2-3 years. This is a tremendous improvement and as Principal Elizabeth Rivera stated was "... a true team effort from everyone at our school - teachers, staff, students, families, and community members.”

Several signature programs at JS Shanklin are making this result possible and are supported by Friends of Shanklin donations and volunteers:

  • Emerging Scholars after-school program

  • Special learning tools for math

  • Volunteers helping in the classrooms and after school to tutor reading and math

  • Experience trips that expose students to the world beyond Burton while reinforcing what they are learning at school

  • Annual book giveaways providing free books to students to encourage reading

Our programs are having a positive impact on the students' academic life and understanding of the world.

Your generous donations have provided much needed funding for our efforts. Your investment of your time and talents by volunteering to work with students is helping students not only improve their academic performance but also gain mentors who model the importance of learning.

If you are already helping us improve results at Shanklin - THANK YOU! If you are interested in making a difference in the lives of these students, please join us.
